Rules & Regulations - Salmon / Sea-Trout
No Angler is allowed to commence fishing until he has procured a permit.
This Season Permit or Date Of Issue Only "Buddy Ticket"- Not Transferable to any other person.
The permit holder has permission to fish for salmon and sea-trout in that portion of the River Ettrick extending from a point 75 yards below Philiphaugh Cauld to the Netley Burn on the left of the North Bank and the Bridgeheugh House on the right or South Bank under the following conditions.
1. All fly fishing will be by means of a single fly rod only with reel, line and nylon leader and in accordance with the Tweed Acts. Wirecast, bubble float, and all weights including leaded lines and leaded flies are prohibited at all times.
2. No annoyance to or unreasonable interference with other persons who may be lawfully fishing under similar permit to be caused, and no damage to be done to the banks of the river or the adjoining property
3. This permit to be exhibited when required to any holder of a similar permit, water bailiff, or other authorised person.
4. The holder is expected to use his influence in discouraging poaching.
5. A return of the numbers and weights of all fish caught to be made to me, as lessee, at the expiration of the permit.
6. The holder must familiarise themselves and conform with the Tweed Angling Code and the Spring Salmon Conservancy code.
7. Sign Gyrodactylus declaration form before fishing if requested.
8. Ask for map and Tweed Angling code if required.
9. The stream below Murray's Cauld is now closed.
10. Any fish that may be foul-hooked shall be immediately returned to the water, undamaged and alive.
11. Minimum leader length is 6ft, Maximum braided leader length is 10ft.
12. Fish should only be landed using knotless net or by hand.
