Rules & Regulations - Brown Trout
No Angler is allowed to commence fishing until he has procured a ticket.
1. This permit is only valid for and in whose name it is issued and may not be transferred.
2. This permit entitles the holder to fish for Brown Trout Only
3. Permit is valid only for the Association's water as defined on the current enclosed map. No fishing in September at Murray's Cauld Pool.
4. The Association operates a mandatory "Catch and Release" policy.
5. The Brown Trout fishing season shall be from 1st April to 30th September inclusive.
6. Night fishing is permitted only from 16th May to 14th September, inclusive, for season permit holders only.
Out-with this period fishing shall be permitted from sunrise to one hour after sunset.
7. Fishing is not permitted on a Sunday.
8. Fishing shall be by fly rod and reel only in conjunction with legal lures, namely: real / artificial fly, minnow, worm, creeper, docken grub.
Minnow fishing is restricted to Season Ticket holders only. When worm fishing maximum leader 4lbs, maximum hook size 14.
No bait fishing after 31st August.
9. Persons may not be accompanied by a dog whilst exercising the privileges of this permit.
10. Permit holders must exercise due care and responsibility towards property, land, crops and livestock.
11. No fish (including minnows) may be sold to a second party by the holder of this permit.
12. The holder shall do everything in their power to prevent illegal fishing.
Furthermore, it shall be their duty to report any incidents to the Association Secretary or Warden.
13. At all times trout anglers must give way to Salmon anglers.
14. The holder of this ticket shall, when requested, allow any authorised person to inspect this permit and any tackle in their possession.
15. No bait fishing on the North bank from the Generals Bridge to the Linglie Farm.
Note: Selkirk & District Angling Association adhere's to a strict "Catch & Release" Policy
Failure to comply with any of these rules shall result in the privileges of this permit to be withdrawn for a period to be determined by the elected Committee of the Association.
Anglers should be aware of all risks and hazards when fishing, and are advised to have insurance cover for personal injury
